An impromptu trip to the Latchford area of Warrington in Cheshire. First up, is the 1893-built Latchford viaduct, opened to carry the London North Western Railway's line from Stockport to Warrington over the Manchester Ship Canal. Passenger services over the viaduct ceased in 1962, but the line carried on as a freight artery until 1985 when essential repairs to the structure was deemed uneconomical by British Rail, and as such they closed the line with traffic diverted elsewhere. Afterwards, a look at Latchford Locks which are right next to the viaduct, and were constructed when the Manchester Ship Canal was built.
