The Class 37/0's is the designation which covers all the original Class 37 locomotives when first built, although as they were originally built between 2 companies and a large number of locomotives there was some differences in the 37/0 subclass alone, most notable the first 119 had a split headcode box. Later locomotives in the class had a centrally placed headcode box and a horn mounted on top of the locomotive.

This subclass covered the numbers:

37001 - 37308
