Hi Folks,

For the second year in a row, the Great Central Railway hosted another steam gala based around Swithland Sidings with a very intensive timetable running between Loughborough Central and Rothley/Leicester North. It was very touch and go whether or not I was going to make the gala owing to the abysmal weather forecast but as it happened, I took the plunge and went to several lineside photographic locations on the railway.

Loco's in use for the day was:

  • Lambleton Tank No. 29
  • Pannier Tank No. L92
  • SR King Arthur Class No. 777 Sir Lamiel
  • LMS Class 3F "Jinty" 47406
  • LMS Class 8F 48624
  • BR Standard Class 7 70013 Oliver Cromwell.
  • Standard 2 78019
  • GNR Class N2 No. 1744
  • BR Standard 9F No. 92214

I started at Woodthorpe and made my way down the line to Kinchley Lane before working my way back up again.

Photo's here:

Hope you enjoy.

Regards and Best Wishes
