Well this was certainly short notice and indeed unexpected, a night shoot at the Midland Railway Centre in Derbyshire based around their Swanwick Junction site.
The night seen Standard 5 73129 masquerading as 73154 for the evening on a rake of maroon MKI coaching stock to represent a period passenger train of the late 1950's, early 1960's. Another locomotive we had use of was the 148 Year Old Midland Railway Class 156 no. 158A on a short, mixed traffic train, representative of the early 1900's. There was also period re-enactors to give some life to the photographs.
Later in the evening, we moved on up to Swanwick shed for some depot scenes including 73154 having it's fire disposed of which added some nice effects. The MR Class 156 was a different story though, as it's a static exhibit and has not been fired for many years, so some improvisation was needed to replicate a fire for the cameo scenes. In this case, a 120W lamp, complete with an orange London Undergound hi-vis jacket - belonging to the EMRPS' own Jason Cross who is a big LU fan - was the order of the night and as can be seen it passed off quite well.
