The Story so far......

Hi Folks,

It's been a number of weeks since I last done a blog post, so here you go, basically just a summary of what's been added to this site over the last couple of weeks:

COLAS RAIL: http://jamespower.zenfolio.com/p640475254

Just one image of a Colas working was captured in the period mentioned, which was of Brush Type 4 47727 dragging 66849 past Cathiron, near Rugby. The working was 0Z66 Washwood Heath - Wigan via Rugby and the date was 30th August.

Faring better on quantity, but only slightly. First up was a pair of Class 47's; 47818 and 47841 working 0Z47 Norwich Crown Point - Crewe Gresty Bridge on 19th August, the duo of which is seen passing Elmesthorpe, which is between Hinckley and Narborough, later in August (30th), 66428 passes through Cathiron working 4M44 Mossend - Daventry intermodal.

The red team have been featured quite well over the last few weeks, especially where their "Super 60's" are concerned, first up was 60062, now named Stainless Pioneer seen in Bedworth Murco oil terminal on 19th August after working in to the Warwickshire site from the South Wales Robeston refinery, 4 days later, on 23rd August, another "Super 60" was captured; this time at Lea Marston (near Water Orton) when 60010 was seen at the helm of the 6E41 Westerleigh - Lindsey empty bogie tanks. 28th August seen another visit to Bedworth terminal, this time for 60017 - which like 60062 on the 19th - worked in on 6M03 Robeston - Bedworth.

31st August seen a visit to Stenson Junction, near Willington, for 60040 working 6M57 Lindsey - Kingsbury loaded bogie tanks, the 60 making short work of the 30-tank load (weighing nearly 3000 tons), just minutes later, 66105 was on it's tail working an 0Z98 Toton - Bescot light engine move, of course the "shed neds" would no doubt say it was following 60040 in case she broke down lol. Afterwards, I took a spin round to Barrow Upon Trent which is in the freight-only line between Stenson Junction and Sheet Stores Junction, another 2 60's were imminent with 60092 working 6E54 Kingsbury - Humber empty bogie tanks and 60054 working a 6F96 Ratcliffe Power Station - Warrington Arpley empty coal train. Both these workings passed within minutes of each other, at one point it was a case of "might get bowled by one", luckily this wasn't the case. After bagging these, I learned from another photographer that 60054 was due a 20-ish minute wait at Stenson Junction, so in the car I went and drove round to Stenson for another shot of 60054.

FREIGHTLINER: http://jamespower.zenfolio.com/p957464360

Recent Freightliner workings were all in one place, Cathiron on the West Coast Mainline, which seen 66505, 86501, 90041, 90044, 90048 and 90049 appear.

GBRf: http://jamespower.zenfolio.com/p657412396

A couple of images from the Bluebirds, 18th August seen 66729 work a 6V83 Peterborough Yard - Cardiff Tidal working which consisted of bogie box wagons, this was shot off the stile at Elmesthorpe foot crossing, then on the 30th August, 66705 (with the Union Jack flag still) worked 4M23 Felixstowe - Hams Hall intermodal, which I captured at Cathiron.

RARE, ONE OFF MOVES: http://jamespower.zenfolio.com/p762981065

Just one image, again from Cathiron on 20th August, when 37516 Loch Laidon worked 5Z51 Ilford - Crewe Heritage Centre dragging Class A4, 60009 Union of South Africa although the biggest surprise was the sun making an appearance just as the train appeared into view, just proves miracles do happen lol.

Another singular image, from Cathiron, featuring LMS Class 5MT 44932, and 2 coaches working 5Z44 10:00 Carnforth Steam Town - Southall, sometimes I find it strange how loco's from the early 20th century are still running when classes of loco's from the early days of dieselisation are no more or even from the latter BR period (i.e Class 58).

That's the modern rail stuff for you, and hope you enjoy :).
